About
I am a violinist and an experienced teacher providing one-to-one violin lessons and chamber music coaching in South East Hampshire and West Sussex.
I welcome both children and adults from beginners to advanced levels.
I have been teaching since 2002 both privately and in a variety of settings; teaching individuals and ensembles at schools and chamber music courses. I am a member of the European String Teachers Association.
Biography
Anna Starkey is a professional violinist who performs in chamber music ensembles and symphony orchestras in Europe and the United States, including the International Festival of Contemporary Music, Strasbourg; Bowdoin International Music Festival, Maine, and the St Endellion Festival, Cornwall. At her last performance there, Anna joined members of the Endellion Quartet for the UK premiere of Brett Dean's Epitaph No.5 for String Quintet.
After attending the Purcell School, Anna read Music at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She continued her studies at the Royal College of Music with Itzhak Rashkovsky and chamber music with the Chilingirian Quartet.
Anna has been teaching since 2002 both privately and in a variety of settings; teaching individuals and ensembles at Hill House, Surbiton High School for Girls, Bute House and the Chamber Players Summer Music Course, London.
Anna is also artistic director of the Chichester Chamber Concerts series.

I offer a free trial lesson for children or adult learners to see if I am the right teacher for you!
During this time we will explore your personal musical aims and goals. These can include ABRSM exams, scholarship auditions or personal development.
I can advise on instruments and help organise a rental instrument for those just starting out or progressing to different sizes.
